There are lots of opportunities coming up in 2026 to take part on and off stage at Theatre on the Steps.
From our monthly performing arts groups to auditioning for a show or from signing up to support backstage to showing creative flair in the costume department, have a look below at our current opportunities.

OUR 2026 AM DRAM PLAY IS BLACKADDER GOES FORTH
A hilarious and poignant stage adaptation inspired by Blackadder Goes Forth, following Blackadder, George, Baldrick, Melchett and Darling as they navigate the absurdity, chaos and grim realities of life on the Western Front.
SHOW DATES - October 2026
Thursday 8, Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Thursday 15, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October 2026 (Evenings - 7.30pm).
As well as a matinee (3pm) on Saturday 17th October.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Thursdays, August - October 2026 (7pm - 10pm). Additional rehearsals will take place on some weekend days nearer the show - these dates will be selected around the availability of cast members.
We begin rehearsals with a read through on Thursday 13th August and will also provide a full rehearsal schedule - you will only be required to attend the rehearsals you are called for.
Tech and dress rehearsal dates are: Sunday 4th October (all day), Monday 5th October (evening). We also request you hold Tuesday 6th October (evening) in case of any issues in the week that means we require an additional rehearsal.
OPEN AUDITIONS
MONDAY 10th AUGUST 2026, 7pm, at Theatre on the Steps, Bridgnorth

It is FREE to take part in our productions, in return we ask for your enthusiasm, team work and dedication.
Auditions for this show are for adults aged 18 or over.
Auditions will entail a group acting workshop, scripts will be shared on the evening, you do not need to prepare anything in advance but we do recommend you get familiar with the characters and stories in the fourth season of Blackadder (this can be watched on the ITV on-demand service).

JOIN THE STEPPERS
Do you love ACTING, DANCING OR TECHNICAL THEATRE? Would you like to join an informal and social group for adults? Join our fun, free Adult Groups THE STEPPERS.
There are no auditions to join any Steppers group but we do ensure that new members are likeminded and work well with other members of the group. To sign up or ask questions please email Nikki at nikki@theatreonthesteps.co.uk This group is free to attend.
ACTING
The Acting group meet monthly to share and create theatre. Explore the craft of acting through games, exercises and rehearsals with no pressure to perform. Our monthly Adult Acting Group is the perfect way to develop new skills or polish up old ones in a safe environment. At The Steppers: ACT you will exercise your creativity, build your confidence, meet like-minded friends and have lots of fun! This will include: Script work, Improvisation, Characterisation, Technique & Practitioners, Vocal Work, Divising , Storytelling and much more!

DANCE
Steppers Dance are welcoming beginner friendly dance class for adults. Meeting weekly, usually on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 7-8pm. Work collaboratively create a dance routines in differing styles of dance and genres of music. Each month will have a different theme as you are encouraged to improve musicality, technique and grow your joy of dance. Steppers Dance is a pressure free fun environment, with no expectation for flawless technique and endless flexibility, come along and give it a go with other people who also love dance.

- Steppers dance are currently working towards performances at our Cabaret night on 19th September

TECHNICAL
Join our head technician to explore many of the different facets of the technical side of the theatre. From Lighting to sound design, set building to foley sound art, this free monthly session is open to adults who are keen to learn and share their common interests and intrigues. Exploring a different theme each month Steppers: Tech is the perfect introduction or reintroduction to tech in the performing arts.

SUPPORTING BEHIND THE SCENES
It takes lots of people to make a show happen so we're always looking for helping hands. If you have an interest in anything from becoming a stage hand to help scenery changes during a show, to showing off your flair on a showing machine to learning how to operate the lights.
